My inspections cover the OAHI Standard of Practice and much more.
WHI will
- Inspect the building structure, the exterior covering, the roof, the electrical service, the mechanical systems, the insulation, ventilation and plumbing.
- Show you the key components of the house, like the water and gas valves and electrical disconnect, explain their importance and show you how to operate them.
- Verify that smoke and carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide detectors are installed where they are required.
- Check all of the safety features like banisters and railings and identify any safety hazards like uneven stairs, missing guards or sharp edges, things that could cause a fall or injury.
- Test every receptacle inside and out for safe operation and proper grounding.
- Verify that all of the drains run freely and have proper traps.
- Tell you if the house is lacking an important safety feature like GFCI receptacles in the kitchen and bath or a sewage back-up prevention valve on the building drain.
We’ll also include things not required by the OAHI.
We’ll check the operation of every door window and screen (not just some), lawn sprinkler systems, swing sets, antennas, central vacs, the major appliances and all buildings on the property, not just the garage.
When the inspection is done, you will have all of the information you need to decide if the house is right for you.
